Precisely. That's why I strongly support a trader and I support stackable at least a little.

But not only is hard to find each other.
With most upgrades there isn't even a seller at all.

The whole idea and concept behind limited storage was to get people not to HOARD items. But, some a handful just can't seem to accept the concept and just get rid of the junk. My philosophy is if you haven't used it within 60 days you aren't ever going to use it most likely. Sell it, get rid of it, quit filling up your storage containers with useless overstocked junk. The other thing people will do and Anet loves this is buying more characters just for storage mules. They make 10 bucks a pop for you getting 41 more storage compartments (two bags and a belt pouch and the normal backpack).

I used to be a pack rat like that but I broke the habit and just keep what I can use on my heroes and my other characters now. I make so much plat per day I can buy any runes I need when I need them so I see no reason to store up runes that I MIGHT need someday. Just sell em. Same with insignias or inscriptions if I have something I can use them in or on I use them if not I just merch them. It's not worth the hassle to try to sell 1k to 10k items hawking them. I can make that much money and more just getting out there and hacking and slashing in my farming areas. It amazes me the low end crap people try to sell in the market for pennies. like Bunnies and Eggs and Ale and Clovers lol and all that sugar crap lol a few measly gold pieces and how long did you stand there trying to get rid of it? And the scalpers aren't going to pay you top dollar for that crap anyways. You're wasting your time trying to sell junk for less than 10k. And even 10k junk isn't worth the time wasted doing it.

I won't waste a minute in the market square if I don't have something I want to sell and WILL sell for 20k or more. Just not worth the time and you can buy insignias and inscriptions now so cheap its not even worth it to be a part of the fools who are standing there for hours trying to sell a 15^50 incriptions for 3k lol and many times I've gotten them for 1k. hahah Stupid people make me laugh.

Because mods are salvaged from items and can be identified, like runes.

So trader is enough. But the problem is the variability in Weapon upgrades. There are some that appear only in Gold weapons, bu others appear in huge ranges.

Hm... the best choice I can think is paying a proportional part for those that sell to the trader, but traders sell only maxed ones.

It would be easy implement for only 2 or 3 levels for mods (like runes). So, the trader will buy any mod or inscription but, under either 2 or 3 levels they only go for X gp, say 25gp or whatever.

So, when you go to the mod/inscription trader you can only buy a 15 > 50, 14 > 50 and if they wanted to go 3 deep a 13 > 50 although I think 2 deep would be good enough. So, a 12 > 50 thru whatever > 50 (not sure how low it goes) you could sell for 25gp which is what the merchant gives you now.

Just a thought,

Krat

Chances are, if there's no demand and you're storing doubles, you don't want them either.

There's this thing called a "Merchant". They're nice.

Your obviously oblivious the the current state of the market in gw.

As mods + inscriptions are a pain to sell, but anets way for people to make money. And as the XM is not going to happen, this has a chance of succeeding.

Just a thought,

Krat
It would be much easier if it worked like this:

- Sell: Trader sells only maxed upgrades, or just 1..3 'stages' in the variation.
- Buy: When the traders buys upgrades from you, it pays a proportional price compared to the price he will pay for a maxed one. For example, a +30HP mod:
*30 5K
*29 2.5k
*28 1.25k
*27 750g
*26 375g
And so on until the 'minimum' price: 25g unidentified or identified value otherwise.

Then, how do the 'atock' increase? In the same way:
* 30 +1 to stock
* 29 +0.1 to stock
* 28 +0.01 to stock

And so on until a minimum of 0.0001 o so.

(Remmber that numbers are just an example to show the idea)

Anyways, most people want only perfect or almost perfect upgrades.

The trader would "customize" your weapon. NOT customize it to the player, but instantly upgrade the weapon with the inscription you want.
You wouldn't be able to buy them separately from the trader, only instantly equip to your items. He would buy items in your storage also.

This would somewhat save the market for these items, since people wouldn't be able to just go buy stacks of inscriptions and runes .If it worked like that then the interface could be something like the pvp weapon interface.
